The Greater Victoria School District is doing a catchment boundary review and would like to hear from parents about important considerations when re-evaluating school boundaries. Information and a survey are now available on the school district website until Friday, November 30th, 2018 at 4p.m.
The parent survey is also available in print and is being translated through the Inter-Cultural Association to reach parents whose first language is not English (Spanish, Filipino, Arabic, Mandarin, and Punjabi). Printed copies and translated surveys will be available at the Board Office. A separate survey will also be available for students to provide input.
The survey results will be shared with the Board of Education at the December Operations Policy and Planning Committee meeting. The information collected will help inform the Board about important considerations, registration trends, and provide helpful insights on District programs. The District will then begin to draw proposed catchment boundary borders.
Phase Two of the consultation process will then begin in early 2019. The District will host open houses to consult on the new proposed boundaries. Upon collecting feedback from the public on the new proposed boundaries, the Board of Education will then determine in the Spring of 2019, what will become the new catchment boundaries. The new catchment boundaries will not be implemented until September 2020.
An FAQ is available here. The FAQ will continue to be updated as questions come in and will be available on the Catchment Boundary Review webpage. Any additional questions about the process or survey can be forwarded to email@example.com.
It’s important the School District hears from us. Thank you in advance for providing your valuable feedback.
